Marina decided to try ice dance early. Her first partner was Tolja Gorelik.
When she was a bit older, she went on to skate with
Sergei Sakhnovsky who is still a competitive ice dancer today.
Sakhnovsky represents Israel with his partner Galit Chait in international competitions. Marina teamed up with Ilia Averbukh after splitting with Sergei.
With Ilia, Marina was very sucessful on junor level. They won the World Junior Championships. Ilia Averbukh is skating today with his wife Irina Lobatcheva for Russia.

Gwendal has much less experience with other partners!
He was skating with Marina Morel since he was very young.
They were close rivals to Anissina/Averbukh and medalled at Junior
Worlds as well. They even skated at the 1992 European Championships in Lausanne and finished twelfth.
