skating disciplines. Like many others out there, I consider your "Romeo & Juliet"
the greatest ice dance of all time (yes, even better than "Bolero"). The two of

I actually have a suggestion for an exhibition program. There is a song called "Smooth"
on Santana's new album, "Supernatural." I love this song, and every time I hear

? Not the "Impossible Dream", that's been done before. There are other moving songs
like "Dulcinea" and the one that goes: I am I Don Quiote, the Lord of La Mancha,

Hello!
We are two crazy fans of yours, who are French and Swedish, but live in Lebanon.
Just to tell you we think you are great, and we watched and recorded every competition
you were in. We of course think you should have won and were very disappointed when
you didn't. We do think that you will have lot's of gold medals next year.
We haven't been able to see your Hunchback program, yet, but we are dying to see
it. We have loved watching the Iron Mask programs and think it the best program
that we have ever seen.
We haven't been able to catch you live, as no skating programs ever happen here
in Lebanon, but if we're ever in Europe at a right time we will be sure to catch
a program then.

I have long admired figure skating as a sport and it wasn't until the 1998 Olympics
that I first saw you both. Your "Romeo and Juliet" program was fantastic and it
had me captivated from the first moment. The costumes were beautiful and the choreography
perfectly suited the music and the story. I recently watched the 1999 Worlds and
I loved "The Man in the Iron Mask" dance. It too was superb and there was so much
attention to emotional detail and innovative manoeuvres. I definitely thought that
you both should have won the gold for this routine - I was in total disbelief when
I saw the judges award the gold to Anjelika and Oleg, whose routine lacked an emotional
connection and seemed too esoteric. I am not a skater (in fact, I have never skated
before!) and do not know much about how difficult and demanding the sport must be,
but you both make it look so easy and you look as if you belong on the ice! I was
pleased to see that the entire audience at the Worlds placed you first. You are
first in the
eyes of many fans, even here in Australia. I would just like to say "felicitations"
for all your success and hope to see your deserved gold medal soon. I know Australia
is a long way and there isn't that much of an iceskating culture, but perhaps you

Dear Gwendal & Marina,
We are not travelers, but this past week my husband and I flew 5400
miles (8709 km) in 36 hours just to see you two perform "The Man in the Iron Mask"
in Phoenix, Arizona. I had been so disapointed to have missed your two days in the
East because we already had other commitments on those days. Since I have been a
hugh skating fan for 11 years and your "Man" at Worlds this year is my all-time
favorite skating performance, I just had to get to see it once in person. Phoenix
was the place and day that seemed to work best for us, so this trip became our 35th
wedding anniversary present to ourselves (a year early).
It was a perfect trip, and the skating was great. "Man" was wonderful but over much
too quickly, as always. (I sure am glad I have the TV version on tape to watch over
and over again.) Having only seen you skate 4 different programs ("R&J", "Time",
"'99 OD Waltz", and "Man")which are all serious, it was such fun seeing another
side of you in the cast finale. It looked as if you were really enjoying yourselves.
Although we were able to see a part of the USA we hadn't seen before, and, it was
great to get away, we still hope that next year you will have more performances
in the East.

I have been a fan since I first saw A&P on the television broadcast
of the World Championships 1996 and have tried to keep up since, sometimes unsucessfully!
I had the great pleasure to see them perform with COI during the stop in Dallas,
Tx. It was wonderful to see their competition program in person. It was a big diappointment
to me when they were not able to perform here last year.

with your Romeo & Juliet program, it's wonderful, you can feel the love, the emotion

I decided to skate too Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet, and when I do the routine I always
think on you both and tried to feel the music like you do. I didn't have the chance

One word
that comes to my mind when I see you skate is: mesmerizing. With your R and J program,
and this years program, you both have captured the epitome of what skating should
be. The emotions you express is conveyed cleary to everyone that is watching, you
clearly love to skate and love to skate with one another. Last year was when I really
got a chance to see you, but it was due to the block judging controversy, which
was sad because I think maybe that portrayed you negatively and evryone was looking
for a reason to say "Well, they made this small mistake. Bourne and Kraatz were
better." In reality, though, you deserved the silver medal at Olympics, and gold
at the Worlds for these past two years. Eventually, you will win a world championship,
ther's no doubt about that. The onlt doubt is when will the judges let you win,
it's sad that it has to be that way, despite all the so-called reforms there have
been. Anyways, I just wanted to commend you both for your wonderful work, and encourage
you to continue striving at being the best, because you really are the best in the
world right now. You've turned a once mocking viewer of ice dancing into a dance

different countries around the world. I thought you might like to know that when
I show clips of your performances to my students, the reaction is always the same.
Everyone is mesmerized,awed. Then the lively discussion begins! Soon the class is
busy asking questions and talking to each other. And you have made many new fans.
It doesn't matter what culture or language or country they come from,
all the students understand what you convey on the ice. It is particularly fascinating

Figure skating is not about winning the medal (of course, it is also very important),
but rather making a CHANGE! And I strongly believe that you, as an ice dance pair,

I really loved your routines this year, even my dad was quite amazed by "that" lift!!

I'm sorry to say that I haven't had the pleasure of watching you skate live, there
isn't much opportunity for that when you live in Australia! We are lucky if we get
skating on the television once a year! Even though I haven't seen you live, the
emotion and power of your skating has touched me (and many of my friends) even through
the TV. I think that in itself is a great feat as the emotion is easily lost if
you are not viewing it in person. I am a skater (precision/synchronized skating)
and you are an inspiration to me and my whole team. We watch you, and try to put
your emotion and presence into our own skating. Thankyou for all you have done for
dance and iceskating in general.
You really are beautiful skaters and a joy to watch! It would be great if you could
somehow make an appearance down under, but I know it is difficult, and won't hold
my breath! I hope I get the opportunity to see you one day.

I wrote a message here a couple of weeks ago, in which I refered to your skating
as magic. While watching you in Helsinki, I started wondering.
Have you ever noticed the likeness between the names Marina Anissina and Morgiana
Assasin?
That's a quite silly question, let me explain.
In some books written by Judith Tarr, an elvan woman occures, that's Morgiana. She's
about 1.65, has long, red hair, is rather pale, very beautiful and moves with an
incredible grace. See what I mean?
I don't know if you are actually reading all these messages, but I sure hope you'll
read this.
By the way, I'm sure you have a lot of ideas and plans for programs, but the music
from Lloyd Webbers 'Cats' really would suit you perfect.

Après votre prestation de Coupe du Monde, je suis sortie de chez moi pour ne
pas regarder les Russes. J'ai attendu, sous la pluie, le coeur battant, le résultat
des Russes (en pensant, puisqu'il y avait un juge russe dans le jury, que vous alliez
être encore spolié de ce titre). Mon mari est sorti en m'annoncant que vous n'étiez
pas champion du Monde. J'en ai pleuré.J'ai lu tous vos messages ; tout a été dit.

I was really upset last night. My mom said that it was over but i don't get it.
I personally know that skatign isn't fair (there's a judge who just doesn't like
me, i swear) but when you skated i felt it. i really felt it deep inside me. When
i heard the african drums, i didnt feel anything. anyway congratulations and maybe

I hope the response from the public speaks for itself, the colour of the medal doesn't
reflect what everyone saw. The words "figure skating" in Czech are "beauty skating".....which
is what everyone sees when you come on the ice. You know how to target the emotional
in people, and your popularity is a sign. On a lighter note, maybe if you
both lived in Russia, you'd get the gold. But this way, you have to work harder
for it.
I know how many hours and years of training goes into the performances you present

Well do what you said yesterday : become 10 times superior to the others. Work on
your compulsories, put hard work on step sequence.
Try to innovate a little more than this year, choose a totally different theme,
fill your program with footwork like your jive of 98, and please keep up the artistry,
the chemistry betwenn you.
Iwas crying by the end of your dance, and I was crying in shock after the results.
But please, DO NOT whine about judging. If there was irregularity be sweet and gentle
about it. Do not blame anyone. Just behave and let it go. You are the champions
in so many hearts ! So don't make people think you have poor sportsmanship ! Just
maybe ask the federation not to put in the reclamation, it would be better for all
of you...

Yesterdays
Freedance event was really poorly judged .I mean ANISSINA AND PEIZARET should have
not medaled because their program is so so easy. It is very emotional but very easy.Next
year please try to copy the russians or canadians because their programs are outstanding.
If you want to be top please try your hardest and fill that program with FOOTWORK
and NOT only LIFTS and cross cuts. YOu still have a long way to go.

saw the Man in the Iron Mask dance (Prague 99) on television and wow, I have never
seen anything like it! WOW! Now why didn't this win the gold medal? I can't understand
it but they smiled and accepted their scores so graciously that you have to admire
them twice as much as human beings too.

NEVER seen snow in my life till I came to London for my studies. Heck..no snow back
home, just sun, glorious sun! Oh..I still love to watch skating though..thought
it's one of the most beautiful sport/art in the world. But, never before have I
